My research interests are focused on CNS development and on mechanisms that control the effects of in utero drug exposure on the developing CNS. Currently, as Director of the Medical Neurosciences Course, most of my effort is devoted to teaching.

Biography

E. Hazel Murphy received her Ph.D. degree in Psychology in 1969 from the University of London, and did postdoctoral studies in neurophysiology at Stanford University. Dr. Murphy was appointed to the faculty of the University of Chicago in 1971 and was Chairman of their Division in Biopsychology from 1975 to 1976. She moved to the Allegheny University of the Health Sciences in 1976 and is currently Professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy.
